The creator of Yoga Birth, Heather Brown, is a mom of three delightful daughters and a highly experienced yoga teacher, childbirth educator, birth doula and activist for women’s right to reproductive autonomy and self-determination. Her journey into birth work began with her first pregnancy in 2006 and since that time, she has supported hundreds of families through pregnancy and helped them to experience a healthy, conscious, empowering birth experience.
Heather works to ensure her students and clients are educated about the range of choices available to them and connected to their own inner wisdom and able to access their voice and make choices that resonate with their knowledge and intuition about what is best for their bodies, babies and families. She believes in the power of women’s bodies and minds to give birth with strength and grace. She has experience with birth in all settings – home, birthing center, hospital – and all methods – natural, medicated, water and cesarean birth – and supports all mothers in making the choices that are best for their unique mother/baby dyad.
Heather has been practicing yoga for 15 years and is a dedicated Ashtanga Yoga practitioner. She is an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher and Registered Prenatal Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance and an ICEA Certified Childbirth Educator and Doula. She is a perpetual student, passionately devouring knowledge of birth anatomy and physiology, politics, history and culture, midwifery, reiki, massage, acupressure, aromatherapy, and more and draws on this wide range of resources and techniques in addition to yoga to support mothers and families through the childbearing cycle. She is a passionate and committed student of birth, constantly seeking to deepen her knowledge, experience and understanding in order to better serve those who trust her to guide them through the challenging and transformative process of becoming that is pregnancy, childbirth and parenting.
